Alas, the golden opportunity vanishes, as Martin muffs a handoff from Jack Layton and sounds shrill and irrational in his exchange with Martin while Harper sounds moderate and in control. Then Harper turns around and finally scores a point on Duceppe. Since Harper needed to be made to look dangerous tonight, that bodes ill for the nation....

The phantom menace

What the heck is Layton talking about? Shrub's missile defense boondoggle isn't Star Wars, and none of it is intended to be deployed in space -- and why is the question a major priority? Okay, now he's finally talking about border delays, but he's still coming across as an insufferable know-it-all. Sigh.
