Back from the marathon...

...and wow, is my butt sore. 14 hours in a movie theater, plus another 3 in line before that, will tend to do that. It was a long day, and I even wound up nodding off for five minutes or so worth of the Dead Marshes.

V. annoyed with Peter Jackson over his handling of the Battle of the Pelennor, the confrontation with Gollum on the slopes of Mount Doom, the ending, and various and sundry other bits that made me rethink the degree to which he "gets it." I'll be very interested to see the extended cut next year....

not being a recently read "fan" of LOTR trilogy, I am curious as to why you were annoyed with PJ's handling of the great battle on the plain before the city of kings? from a non-fantasy, hisotrical stand point, I did have some trouble with the cavalry charge into formed infantry ... from what I've read, horses would not charge into any kind of wall.

my "hat" is off to you for the movie-marathon. I only caught the one show of Kings at 11am on Wednesday and had to stand up twice and then for last (boring Hobbits in love) 15 minutes in order to prevent a blood clot.

I was just putzing around on the eve of a holiday which is not mine to celebrate, and I checked once again to see who the other "ultra-light backpacking" person was in the interests section. Lo and behold, you're as big a LotR nit-picker as I am! My friends and I have been working on turning the movies into the next Rocky Horror Picture Show...want to help?

Top lines so far:
"Glorfindel had a sex-change!" (when Liv Tyler appears)
"Sam..." (long pause, music welling, face twisted with emotion) "Will you go out with me?"
