In Toronto

Here we are in Toronto, home of black squirrels, sushi pizza, loud horn-honking Leafs fans... and us. We still can't make outgoing phone calls -- the phone gets hooked up tomorrow, but we forgot to bring a handset this time -- but we just discovered that one of our neighbors forgot to turn their 802.11 security on, so we can at least get on the net for now.

Now, if HRDC would just get me my stupid effing work permit so that I can get started on my new job, things would be fine. Growl!

Whereabouts in town is your new place?

High Park, catacorner from the subway stop, and in walking distance of both bcholmes and our employer. It's a nifty place, and insanely convenient to just about everything. Do drop by sometime and say hi; our number is 416-605-9456, but we don't have a handset hooked up yet.

We're going to be leaving today, but if you really want to and can manage to be at our place between, say, 5pm and 6:00pm, we could probably lend you a handset. :)

Yay Toronto! Yay unsecured access points!

That sounds cool; why don't we drop by then, and we can also drop your keys off and wish you a good trip.

It isn't actual pizza -- it's sushi rice pan-fried into a cohesive round pizza-like disk, with sake or toro, tobiko, and Japanese mayonnaise on top, in the shape and vague appearance of a pizza. It's quite tasty, and as far as I know, entirely a Toronto-ism.
